The Montgomery Fire Department has strengthened its emergency response capabilities with the addition of two fire trucks that will replace several aging vehicles in the department’s fleet.
Montgomery Fire Department Chief Michael Parker says they received a 1991 International FMC pumper and a 1993 International pumper tanker through partnerships with fire organizations.
Parker says the department was able to secure the 1991 International FMC pumper thanks to Fire Department Relief, which coordinated the donation from Coulter Volunteer Fire Company in Pennsylvania.
The 1993 International pumper tanker was obtained through a trade coordinated by Red Line Emergency Equipment and came from the Fruitdale Volunteer Fire Department in Indiana.
The 1993 International will replace the department’s 1981 pumper, while the 1991 International will take the place of a 1983 engine. The department also plans to retire a 1997 Freightliner engine as part of the fleet update.
These trucks will provide our firefighters with safer and more reliable equipment to serve the community, Parker says, adding they are grateful to everyone who helped make this possible.
Parker took over as chief on January 3rd and has been serving Trigg County for 15 years as a firefighter.
