Lavona Litchfield Cavanah, 91, of Hopkinsville, died at 11:35 a.m., Saturday, May 9, 2026 at Bradford Heights Nursing and Rehab in Hopkinsville.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 13, 2026 at Ancestral Haven Memorial Gardens in Hopkinsville, Kentucky with Rev. Rob Hoffman officiating. Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
A native of Hopkinsville, Kentucky she was born on July 5, 1934 the daughter of the late Ernest Franklin “E.F.” Litchfield and Mary Florence Robertson Litchfield. She was also preceded in death by her husband Robert Stites Cavanah in 1982 and her siblings, Kenneth Litchfield and Iona Wagoner.
She was a member of St. John Methodist Church in Hopkinsville and taught English at Crofton Elementary School for 30 years.
Survivors include her daughter: Cathy (Jason) Scruggs of Hopkinsville, Kentucky; her sister, Anita Darnell of Pembroke, Kentucky; her grandchildren, Hadley (Jordan) Loucks of Owensboro, Kentucky and Keaton (Macy) Scruggs of Oregon and one great grandchild, Jack Walker Loucks.
Contributions may take the form of donations to the Alzheimer’s Association or St. John Methodist Church in Hopkinsville, Kentucky.
