
More than 250 children and their families fished and participated in activities Saturday during the 21st annual Take Kids Fishing Day at West Cadiz Park.
The event included children between the ages of 3 and 15. Several fish were caught Saturday morning ranging from the shortest fish at 3 inches to the longest fish at 18 inches.
In the 3 to 5-year-old age group Noah Choate caught the longest fish at 6 1/8 of an inch. Miylah Crenshaw caught the most fish with 8. Paton Lane had the smallest fish at 3 inches. And in the casting contest, Levi McGee had the longest cast at 40 feet.
In the 6 to 8-year-old age group Weston Freeman had the longest fish at 8 3/4 inches. Malia Daniel caught the most fish with 12. Landon Acree caught the smallest fish at 4 3/4 inches. And Kakylia Boyd had the longest cast in the 6 to 8-year-old age group at 72 feet.
Lian Siver caught the longest fish in the 9 to 11-year-old category. Layton Creekmur caught the most fist with six. Grant Keelty caught the smallest fish at 5 1/4 inches. And Syler Lee had the longest cast at 70 feet.
And in the 12 to 15 age group Brakston Hardor had the longest fish at 18 inches. Levar Daniel caught the most fish with 7. Braxton Creekmore and Breinna Davenport tied for the smallest fish with both catching a 4 3/4 inch fish.
Winners in each age group were awarded trophies and pizza cards for the smallest fish, the most fish, and the longest fish. For kids that did not receive a trophy, they had a chance to participate in a drawing for twenty-plus door prizes that included coolers, footballs, a bowling set, a water slide, bubbles, and other door prizes.
