Christian County School Officials To Sign Anti-Vaping Policy Monday

Christian County school officials will join with leaders from Hopkinsville and Christian County Government, law enforcement, and the Christian County Health Department in signing a pledge to end vaping on Christian County School campuses during the coming school year.

The signing will be held at the Hopkinsville Municipal Center at 1:00 Monday, July 10.

Christian County Public Schools will be implementing a zero-tolerance policy for vapor products. This means that any student caught in possession of a vape product would face serious consequences. T

The new policy states that not only will students receive a citation from law enforcement for drug paraphernalia, but if it is determined that the vape contains a controlled substance, they will also face charges of drug distribution, possession, and/or use. This strict stance is a collaborative effort between various community organizations, including the Christian County Health Department, Christian County Judge Executive, Christian County Sheriff Department, City of Hopkinsville, Hopkinsville Police Department, Jennie Stuart Health, Juvenile Court, and Pennyroyal Mental Health Center.

The decision to implement this zero-tolerance policy was driven by the alarming rise of vaping among students in Christian County’s middle and high schools. Vaping had become an overwhelming problem, not only posing a significant health risk to the students but also hindering their academic progress. The community leaders recognized the critical changes that occur in the developing brains of middle and high school students and understood the urgency to address this issue.
