Janice Merritt, age 84, of Hopkinsville, KY, passed away on May 5, 2025, at Jennie Stuart Medical Center of natural causes. Funeral Services will be at 12:00 Noon on Friday, May 9, 2025, at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home with Rev. Kim Combs officiating and burial to follow in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West. Visitation will be at the funeral home the morning of Friday, May 9, 2025, from 10:00 AM until the service hour at 12:00 Noon. Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home has been entrusted by the family to handle the services of their loved one.
Janice was born in Wayne, West Virginia, on July 26, 1940, the daughter of the late Victor Adkins and Gladys Mill Adkins. She retired from managing the SOS Shop for 16 ½ years. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Cecil Merritt in 2023, and her three sisters.
Survivors include her son, Darius (Beatriz Ordaz) Merritt of Hopkinsville; her two sisters, Betty Lou Damron and Peggy Sue Ferguson, both of Wayne, West Virginia; her two grandchildren, Jack Merritt and Marlowe Merritt.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in her memory to Trinity Baptist Church.
