Two men have joined the Trigg County Schools Board of Education, concluding a nine-year period during which only females served.

During Thursday evening’s meeting, Jamie Gapp and Jim Mullen were sworn in by School Attorney Jack Lackey, Jr.

Gapp, who will serve Clara-Beth Hyde’s remaining term for District 3, said he loves Trigg County and wanted to be more involved in the community.

Gapp stated his goal for the next year is to protect the district’s current assets.

Gapp brings to the board years of experience in law enforcement and work in the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office in Hopkinsville.

Meanwhile, Mullen takes over the remaining term for Charlene Sheehan in District 1. Mullen felt his seven years of volunteer work in the district made him a natural fit for the board, saying he was compelled to serve.

Mullen added that the strong leadership at the intermediate school, with Lisa Bush, has fostered significant community support. He added that the administration offers great insight that motivates him and others to work harder to ensure their continued success.

As for things he would like to see in the next year, Mullen shared that more life skills need to be taught.

Mullen added he plans to continue his volunteer work with Sara Wallace’s 5th-grade pod at Trigg County Intermediate School. He also serves on the Cadiz-Trigg County Planning Commission.

Gapp and Mullen can opt to run in the November 2026 election against any other potential candidates or fill these short-term positions.
