This past weekend, the marching bands of Christian County High School and Hopkinsville High School delivered outstanding performances at the prestigious Murray State Festival of Champions, where 17 ensembles from across the region competed.
Christian County Director of Fine Arts Anthony Darnall says Christian County High School earned Reserve Grand Champion, finishing just behind the defending 3A state champion, Murray High School. In preliminary competition, Christian County secured 1st place in Class 4A and placed first with 3 out of 6 judges overall. In finals, the Colonels were also recognized with top honors in Best Overall Percussion and Best Overall Woodwinds.
Hopkinsville High School also had an award-winning day, climbing two spots from prelims to finish 4th overall in finals. The Tigers placed 3rd in Class 4A during prelims and were recognized in finals and prelims with the award for Best Overall Color Guard out of 17 bands.

Additional regional results included Trigg County (2nd in Class 2A, 13th overall) and Caldwell County (3rd in Class 2A, 15th overall), both showing strong performances in prelims.
