A Hopkinsville woman was charged after a report of shoplifting at the Dollar General on East 9th Street on Monday night.

Hopkinsville Police say they were called for 40-year-old April Harris, who was given a trespass warning from the business due to a prior incident and was found concealing eyelashes in her purse.

While talking with officers, she reportedly appeared to be under the influence of some substance, and officers could smell the odor of marijuana.

Police say she had suspected cocaine in her pocket, along with several individually wrapped baggies of suspected cocaine in plain view in her vehicle, which she tried to get when officers noticed then resisted arrest.

A bag of marijuana and a scale were reportedly found in the vehicle along with a handicap placard that did not belong to her.

After being arrested, Police say she was seen on camera removing something from her waistband and putting it in her mouth, leading to her being transported to the hospital before jail.

Harris is charged with theft by unlawful taking, possession of marijuana, trafficking cocaine second offense, tampering with physical evidence, public intoxication, resisting arrest, obstructing emergency responder violations, and unauthorized parking in a handicapped zone.
