A Hopkinsville man was charged with theft of identity on Monday after an investigation into fraudulent credit card transactions at Walmart in Hopkinsville.

Hopkinsville Police say 60-year-old Cornelius Bussell was arrested for shoplifting after he used a cash app card twice that was not his to make purchases.

Police say he was also caught not scanning all of the items. The owner of the card reportedly told law enforcement they lost the card 3 weeks ago.

During the investigation, police say he had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from him and started yelling, causing a public inconvenience.

Bussell was arrested and charged with alcohol intoxication in a public place, second-degree disorderly conduct, fraudulent use of a credit/gift card, theft of identity, theft by unlawful taking, and third-degree unlawful access to a computer.
