
Gas prices in West Central Kentucky are up slightly this week, increasing two cents to an average of $2.53 per gallon, according to AAA East Central.
Locally, it’s $2.75 in Trigg County, $2.55 in Christian County, $2.52 in Todd County, $2.74 in Caldwell County, $2.73 in Lyon County and $2.55 in Hopkins County.
Regionally, average gas prices include Bowling Green at $2.42, Elizabethtown at $2.46, Owensboro at $2.51, Louisville at $2.62 and Paducah at $2.66.
Nationally, the average price for regular unleaded rose three cents to $2.90 per gallon. Prices are trending upward as refineries begin the seasonal transition to summer-blend gasoline, even though demand has fallen due to recent winter storms. The national average remains below last year’s price of $3.12.
The Energy Information Administration reports gasoline demand dropped to 8.15 million barrels per day, while total supply rose slightly. Crude oil prices also climbed, with West Texas Intermediate settling at $65.14 a barrel, as U.S. crude inventories fell by 3.5 million barrels last week.
The national average cost to charge an electric vehicle at a public station remains 38 cents per kilowatt hour.
