A Hopkinsville man was charged with assaulting his 16-year-old girlfriend on South Virginia Street on Monday night.
Hopkinsville Police say 21-year-old Lartavion Baker had arranged an Uber to pick up his 16-year-old girlfriend from Murray and bring her to an Airbnb they were staying at in Hopkinsville.
During an argument, Police say he grabbed her by the throat with both hands and began to strangle her until she almost blacked out, then slapped her repeatedly in the face and other areas of her body.
He reportedly blocked her from leaving the home. Baker was arrested and charged with first-degree strangulation, fourth-degree assault, and second-degree unlawful imprisonment.
