Volna ‘Peggy’ Cunningham, 92, of Hopkinsville

Volna “Peggy” Cunningham, 92, of Hopkinsville, died Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville, TN.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday, March 8, 2026, at Southside Church of Christ with Phil Dunn officiating.  Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery.  Visitation will be Saturday from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Southside Church of Christ.  Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

A native of Trigg County, she was born March 24, 1933, the daughter of the late Emmett Earl Pryor and Mary Geteal Green Pryor.  She retired from the Christian County Public School System, where she served as the Board of Education’s secretary.  She was a member of Southside Church of Christ.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Lee Cunningham; her brother, D.B. Pryor; and her sisters, Dorothy Nell Robertson, Bobbie Diane Foster, and Robbie Lee O’Bryan.

Survivors include her daughters:  Mary Ann (Duane) Moore of Christian County, KY and Elizabeth (Dr. Jeff) Wade of Murfreesboro, TN; her grandchildren:  Dr. Austin Pryor (Macye) Wade, Dillon Trent (Rebecca) Wade, Dr. Ashley Nicole Moore, and Cara Elizabeth (Dr. Taylor) Payne, and her great grandchildren: Reid Wade, Jaxton Wade, Harper Payne, Emerson Payne, Lillian Kate Wade, Rhett Wade, Noah Payne, and Avery Payne.
