James Henry Jones, 77, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at his home in Hopkinsville, Kentucky.
Born in Christian County, Kentucky, on November 21, 1948, he was the son of the late Henry and Hattie Robinson Jones.
James was a member of Allen Grove Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon.
James was employed as an electrician with Jones Construction. “Mr. Fix It,” as he was affectionately called, loved working with his hands. He loved working on cars and houses, but mostly he loved spoiling his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his brother, Harvey Jones, and his sister Joyce Ann Usher.
James will forever be cherished by his wife, Gladys Jones, and daughter Sharhonda Swearengen. Stepchildren, Deantraze Bush, Reneisha Wilson. Siblings, Irene Larkins, Evonne Jefferson, Mary (Willie) Webb, Pastor Clinton Jones, Ralph (Wanda) Jones, Claude Jones, and Rev. Jerry (Candence) Jones; 9 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and a host of other close relatives and friends.
Gamble Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Funeral services will be Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 12:00 pm at Gamble Funeral Home.
Visitation will begin Saturday morning at 10:00.
Burial will be on Monday at 10:00 am at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West.
