Advocating for the needs of citizens is one of the key missions for local leaders.
Christian County Judge Executive Jerry Gilliam says he has been to Washington, D.C., twice recently to advocate for funding.
The first trip was to talk about Fort Campbell.
click to download audioThey are also hoping to get funding to retrofit buildings to make them more accessible to the larger equipment that soldiers are using on the ground and in the air.
He says the second trip was focused on Christian County and another water supply issue in Oak Grove.
click to download audioPart of this is because of Bucee’s, which has led to road expansions at the Exit 89, Pembroke-Oak Grove Road, on Interstate-24. Gilliam says that project was let late last year, and they are hoping to build on that momentum.
