The community gathered Saturday morning in Cadiz to honor nine fallen soldiers with the dedication of the new Nine Eagles Memorial at the Trigg County Veterans Memorial Park.
Before the ceremony began, a special flag-raising paid tribute to each branch of the U.S. military, setting a patriotic tone for the morning as veterans and community members looked on.
The ceremony marked the third anniversary of the March 2023 Black Hawk helicopter crash that claimed the lives of nine Fort Campbell service members. Family members, veterans, local leaders, and residents filled the park for the solemn tribute.
The Nine Eagles Memorial now stands as the centerpiece of the developing veterans park, symbolizing both sacrifice and remembrance. Speakers reflected on the lives of the fallen and the lasting impact of their service, while also recognizing the support of the community that helped bring the memorial to life.
Organizers with the Trigg County Veterans Memorial Committee said the dedication represents more than just a single monument—it’s the beginning of a larger effort to create a space that honors all who have served.
Saturday’s ceremony included remarks from local officials and veterans, along with moments of reflection for the nine soldiers whose legacy the memorial now preserves.
The park is expected to continue expanding in future phases, adding educational features and additional tributes to military service.
