A Hopkinsville man was charged with fleeing from law enforcement on Fort Campbell Boulevard at Eagle Way in Hopkinsville on Monday afternoon.

Christian County Sheriff’s deputies say they attempted to stop a vehicle driven by John Bilyeu on Fort Campbell Boulevard, and he fled recklessly through town.

Hopkinsville Police were able to use spike strips on South Virginia Street at East 22nd Street, and the pursuit came to an end when he hit a brick wall on South Virginia Street at the intersection of Alumni Avenue, disabling his car.

During the pursuit, minor damage was done to one deputy’s vehicle.

Bilyeu was found to have a warrant for probation violation on felony offenses, and he was charged with first-degree fleeing or evading police.
