A pursuit that started in Cadiz ended on Fort Campbell on Monday night.

Cadiz Police say they attempted to stop a vehicle on McRidley Street in connection with an emergency protective order and a vehicle parked on the side of the road, and the driver fled at a high rate of speed, crossing into Christian County and then into the city of Lafayette.

Christian County Sheriff’s deputies say they attempted to block the vehicle, but the driver was able to get around them and traveled into Fort Campbell, onto a range, before crashing and causing the vehicle to overturn.

60-year-old James Acree and 44-year-old  Shalonda Cornett were reportedly in the vehicle, and both were taken into custody. Police say Acree and Cornett admitted to snorting cocaine before fleeing.

Acree is charged with first-degree fleeing or evading police, third-degree criminal trespassing, menacing, and resisting arrest. Cornett is charged with disregarding a stop sign, no registration plate, reckless driving, speeding, first-degree fleeing or evading police, and third-degree criminal trespassing.
