A wreck on Interstate 24 in Oak Grove blocked the eastbound lanes on Friday until late Saturday afternoon.

Christian County Sheriff’s deputies say that at 5 pm, an eastbound tractor-trailer driven by 65-year-old Svetislav Nedelikovic of Saint Charles, Illinois, collided with the back of another tractor-trailer driven by 48-year-old Rodriguez Lamothe of Orlando, Florida.

Hopkinsville Fire Department Spokesman Captain Payton Rogers says Nedelikovic was taken to Jennie Stuart Health due to injuries, but the injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Rogers says they helped clean up two substances, one of which is a powder base for paint, and the other is a pet food additive that was spilled on the roadway, while tow truck drivers work to remove the tractor-trailers.

Deputies say an SUV driven by 74-year-old Kay Papin of Weldon Spring, Missouri, hit debris from the crash, damaging the vehicle, but no one in that vehicle was injured.

Christian County emergency personnel say just after 10:30 pm on Friday, the Oak Grove Fire Department was called for one of the tractor-trailers that had caught fire.

Christian County Emergency Manager Randy Graham says an environmental cleaning team had to be called to help clean up the area as they have the proper equipment to clean up powder.

The eastbound lanes were completely blocked until late afternoon Saturday.
