A Cincinnati, Ohio, man was charged in connection with a social media scam that resulted in an Oak Grove woman losing $2,600.

Oak Grove Police say 54-year-old Felix Kouame pretended to be from “Apple Support” and convinced a woman to send money through Cash App, claiming it was needed to activate her Apple business account.

Kouame was reportedly involved in a scheme that uses fake social media profiles to gain victims’ trust, then they first ask for a small donation, and then keep asking for more money.

They have also been known to claim to help victims set up an Apple Pay business account so they can keep sending money.

Kouame is charged with theft by deception.

Oak Grove Police were assisted in the investigation by the Forest Park Police Department in Ohio.
