A traffic stop on Interstate 169 in Christian County led to several charges for a Hopkinsville man Monday night.

Christian County Sheriff’s deputies say they stopped a vehicle driven by 22-year-old Matthew Wills due to the license plate being obstructed with a tinted cover, and during the stop, Wills and his passenger acted oddly when asked about firearms in the vehicle.

Deputies say after getting consent to search the vehicle, two masks along with a gun loaded with hollow-point ammunition were discovered.

Wills is reportedly a convicted felon from an incident in Missouri where he was charged with unlawful use of a weapon.

Wills was arrested and charged with ram or frame obstructing lettering or decal on plate, improper display of registration plates, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, and using restricted ammunition during a felony.
