Trigg County Clerk Carmen Finley brought good news to Trigg County Fiscal Court Monday night, revealing the tight schedule of local deadlines and events leading into the culminating May 19 primary.
Tuesday, she said, is the final moment citizens can order absentee ballots, with in-person absentee voting running from this Wednesday until next Wednesday during regular clerk’s office hours in downtown Cadiz.
Early voting, for anybody and everybody that is a registered voter, will run from 10 AM until 6 PM Thursday, May 14, until Saturday, May 16, at the Trigg County EOC on Jefferson Street.
On Tuesday, May 19, Finley said citizens can vote at any location most convenient to their morning or afternoon schedules.
With more than 60 election officers this spring, Finley said one-day training for them will take place Tuesday, May 12, at the Cadiz Methodist Church, with the Judge-Executive’s office providing lunch.
Finley also offered forth a kind reminder of what a “primary” actually means for voters.
It also means those registered as “independent” cannot vote.
On the morning of Thursday, May 21, Finley confirmed the county will experience a “hand-eye” audit, in which the Secretary of State’s office will handpick a random race, as well as a random voting location, in Trigg County, and those votes will be counted manually — and put up against the digital machine tallies.
It will take place in the fiscal court room, with members of the election board on hand, and the public is invited to attend.
Finley also noted that, in the spirit of the election season, those looking to have their driver’s license renewed will soon get a chance to do so in Cadiz — rather than at a regional hub.
The clerk’s office is open Monday-Friday from 8 AM until 4 PM, there at 38 Main Street in Cadiz.
