Glenda “Carol” Smith Carter, age 84, of Hopkinsville, KY, passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2026, at St. Thomas Mid-town Hospital of natural causes. The family has chosen cremation with a Celebration of Life Service to be held at a later date.
Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home has been entrusted by the family to handle the arrangements.
Carol was born in Cerulean, KY, on October 3, 1941, the daughter of the late Floyd Abner Smith and Edith Pauline Moore Smith. She was a member of Sinking Fork Christian Church and retired after 21 plus years as a Supervisor at Mid-Continent Spring Company. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Charles “Raymond” Carter; her son, Wendell D. Moss; her brothers, Kendell D. Smith and Larry W. Smith.
Survivors include her sisters, Wanda “June” Hancock of Hopkinsville, Barbara Ann Gehlbach of Ormond Beach, FL; her two grandchildren, William B. Moss and Kayla Bays; and her two great grandsons, Connor Bays and Austin Moss.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in her memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
