Vehicle Hits Church, Driver Injured In Single-Vehicle Crash

A Murfreesboro, Tennessee ,man was injured in a crash on East Nashville Street in Pembroke on Tuesday night.

Christian County Sheriff’s deputies say at 7:25 pm, a truck driven by 40-year-old Matthew Ellis passed through the intersection with North Main Street and collided with the Cornerstone building.

Witnesses reportedly told law enforcement that Ellis appeared to have passed out before the crash.

Deputies say drugs were found in the vehicle and Ellis was taken by Hopkinsville EMS to Jennie Stuart Health for treatment due to the crash.

Ellis is charged with careless driving, driving on a DUI-suspended license, obstructing governmental operations, DUI third offense, reckless driving, first-degree possession of a controlled substance, and possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle.
