In observance of National Day of Prayer, more than 100 people gathered at the Farmer’s Market Pavilion Thursday afternoon in Cadiz — sharing hope, faith and unity for counties, countries and continents, and as America celebrates its 250th birthday.
A pair of scriptures provided the crux of the sermon: I Chronicles 16:24 and Luke 18:1-8, which when used together emphasizes the Old Testament calling on God’s people to “proclaim His glory,” and the New Testament showing Christians to “sustain that witness through persistent faith and prayer.”
Mayor Todd King offered a message for the city.
Judge-Executive Stan Humphries brought forth a note for the county.
Marvin Barnes Jr., pastor for Bloomfield Baptist Church, noted that “nobody but God knows how to bring people together, regardless of race, color, creed or ethnicity.”
Men and women, he added, are “always to pray.”
Pastor Cody Choate, of New Jerusalem Baptist Church, said more than 75% of Trigg County remains “unchurched,” and that everyone needs to hear the message.
Thursday’s gathering was made possible by the Little River Baptist Association and joining churches, and also included prayers from Crossroads Fellowship Pastor Matt Shown, Bro. Dennis Radford of Bloomfield Baptist Church and Cadiz Baptist Church Associate Pastor Josh Webster.
