A Hopkinsville man was charged with fleeing from law enforcement after a call of a possible suspect in a Chicago murder, causing a disturbance on Denzil Drive on Saturday afternoon.
Hopkinsville Police say they were called for 26-year-old Romaine Turner, who had been threatening to kill his father. When they arrived, he reportedly fled on foot and escaped their custody temporarily.
After being taken into custody, he reportedly gave his father’s identifying information as his own.
Police say he had a bottle of a date rape drug in his pocket. He is charged with third-degree escape, first-degree fleeing or evading police, giving an officer false identifying information, first-degree possession of a controlled substance, and third-degree terroristic threatening.
Turner has not been charged in connection with a murder in Chicago at this time.
