Johnny Wayne Hayes, age 72, of Hopkinsville, passed away on Monday, May 11, 2026, at Jennie Stuart Health due to natural causes. Funeral Services will be at 12:00 PM at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home on Thursday, May 14, 2026, with Bro. David Harrison officiating and burial to follow in Ebenezer Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home that morning from 11:00 AM until the service hour at 12:00 PM. Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home has been entrusted by the family to handle the arrangements.
Johnny Wayne was born in Hopkinsville, KY, on November 22, 1953, the son of the late George Hayes and Betty Jean Shanklin Simpkins. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and retired as a Bull Hauler. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Stephen Hayes and Michael Hayes.
Survivors include his daughters, Devin (Bill) Harrison of Hopkinsville, Ashley (David) Vanmeter of Manchester, TN; his brother, James Hayes of Hopkinsville; his sisters, Cheryl (David) Jones of Hopkinsville, Marsha Almon of Hopkinsville; and his nine beloved grandchildren, Tyler, Eli, and Nathan Zayne Harrison, Kamron Dickerson, Simeon Alphonse, and Hunter, Hayden, Peyton, and Gabe Vanmeter.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Honey Grove Volunteer Fire Department.
