The inaugural Hoptown Hoppers Blitzball Tournament brought a full day of fast-paced fun to the Planters Bank-Jennie Stuart Health Sportsplex on Saturday, as 14 teams made up of local government agencies, businesses, student athletes and other community members took the field. The event showcased the growing popularity of Blitzball, a high-performance take on backyard baseball that features a specially designed plastic ball known for its dramatic movement and unpredictable pitches.
With four players on the field per team and competition open to ages 8 and up, the tournament blended friendly rivalry with plenty of laughs. Spectators were admitted free, concessions were available on site, and the top three teams earned prizes.
