The aroma of simmering spices is filling Founders Square in Hopkinsville today as contestants prepare their entries for the 2025 MAC Chili Cook Off and Cornbread Challenge. Hosted by the Christian County Military Affairs Committee, the annual event brings together teams from across the region for a day of friendly competition and community fun.
Cooking kicked off at 10 a.m., with participants fine-tuning their chili recipes and cornbread creations ahead of judging and public tasting later this afternoon. Visitors will get their chance to sample and vote for their favorites beginning at 4 p.m., with winners announced at 6 p.m.
The event not only showcases local culinary talent but also celebrates the strong bond between Christian County and its military community, offering free participation for active-duty members and their families.
Cash prizes are on the line—including up to $1,000 for the best chili—along with awards for the cornbread challenge, best team theme, and crowd favorite.
