Wind Advisory In Effect For Thursday

The National Weather Service in Paducah has issued a Wind Advisory in effect until 7:00 Thursday evening for western Kentucky.

Meteorologists indicate sustained winds out of the south to southwest near 30 mph with periodic gusts from 45 to 55 mph. They say the strongest winds are expected from mid-morning to late afternoon.

The high winds will impact any outdoor equipment that could be tossed around or damaged, and high profile vehicles may experience difficult driving conditions at times. There is also the potential for power outages, and large tree limbs, or even a few trees, may come down due to saturated ground conditions.

A Wind Advisory is issued when sustained winds are expected to reach 30 mph or greater for longer than one hour, or wind gusts are expected to reach 40 mph for any duration.
