Elle McGowan was named Ms. Murray State University for 2023 last weekend. McGowan beat out 14 other contestants to win the title.
McGowan is a Fredonia native and graduate of Crittenden County High School. She is a junior majoring in Agriculture and is active on campus as a member of Alpha Omicron Pi, Student Ambassador Team Lead, and member of the Honors College. She was also elected president of the Student Government Association.
Claudia Sweeney, a graduate of Heritage Christian Academy, was named first runner-up. Sweeney was recently elected SGA Vice-President of Administration.
Also competing in the pageant were Lyon County High School graduates Nelli Walker and Allye Culp.
Each contestant must be a Murray State student and must have and maintain an overall cumulative GPA of 3.0. They must also be planning to attend Murray State University as a student for the entire school year following the pageant and not graduate before Spring 2024.
