A man was assaulted, and his car was stolen near the Family Dollar in Crofton by two men who escaped from a Christian County Jail work detail on Sunday night.
Christian County Sheriff’s deputies say just after 8 pm, a man was giving a ride to 30-year-old Elijah Boodoosingh of Hopkinsville, 39-year-old James Stull of Covington, and 31-year-old Caitlyn Burchett of Louisville.
He was reportedly taking them to Cincinnati when they pulled off in Crofton to get money, then assaulted him and took his car.
The 2014 blue Honda Civic, reportedly driven by Boodoosingh, then fled towards Nortonville on Madisonville Road.
Kentucky State Police say the Honda Civic was located on the Western Kentucky Parkway and fled from Kentucky State Police, reaching speeds of over 100 mph before spikes were used.
Deputies say the vehicle crashed around the 108-mile marker. The victim of the assault suffered head injuries but did not want an ambulance or to be taken to the hospital.
Boodoosingh was arrested and charged with first-degree fleeing or evading police, speeding, reckless driving, first-degree wanton endangerment, second-degree fleeing or evading police, resisting arrest, possession of marijuana, possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle, and second-degree escape. Stull was also charged with second-degree escape. Burchett has not been charged at this time.
The Christian County Sheriff’s Office has not released a full list of charges for each of the suspects in connection with the carjacking.
