With Memorial Day and Summer 2026 fast approaching, the Cadiz-Trigg County Tourist Commission is preparing for what will be a busy next six months.

Thursday afternoon, board members approved for Executive Director Beth Sumner to connect with Trigg County High School, and allow for the hiring of a co-op education student to be part of the staff.

The co-op pays $10/hour at, give or take, 20 hours per week, and Sumner said she already has a student in mind for the job.

Sumner said she was impressed with how professional the contact was made, and that she was eager to possibly get started as early as this summer.

Board member Nelson Green called the measure “good outreach for the community,” and it’s good for the student, and board chair Matt Ladd agreed.

Sumner said this individual also possesses critical, ready-to-work skills for her office.

Board members also approved for Sumner to pursue a “Postcards from the Future” workshop through InnoEngine out of Bowling Green — in order to create a lengthy strategic plan for Cadiz-Trigg County Tourism and its longevity.

The event would be the week of June 15, hosted locally, and would bring about 40-to-50 stakeholders to the table.
