Rodger Dale Light, age 79, of Cadiz, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at Hospice of Southern Kentucky in Bowling Green.
Born on March 12, 1947, in Cadiz, he was the son of the late Clayton & Irbell (Hughes) Light.
Dale was a 1965 graduate of Trigg County High School and a member of the U.S. Army Reserves. He was a dedicated employee of Economy Cee Bee Food Stores in Cadiz for 25 years before moving on to the manufacturing industry, ending his work career at T-GASK in Hopkinsville.
Dale was of the Baptist faith. He was a University of Louisville Cardinals fan, an avid deer hunter, enjoyed playing cards, and loved spending time with his grandkids. Dale could strike up a conversation with anyone because he never met a stranger.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother and sister, Wilburn Light and Carolyn Light.
Dale is survived by his devoted wife of 45 years, Diane (Johnson) Light; his sons, Rodger Light (Sarah) of Bowling Green, KY and Shannon Causey of Clarksville, TN; his grandchildren, Carter Light, Aubree Light, and Samantha Toten (Travis), and a great-granddaughter, Riley Toten.
Funeral services will be at Goodwin Funeral Home, 138 Main Street in Cadiz, at 1:00 PM, Monday, May 11, 2026, with Bro. Norman Cotton officiating. Burial will follow in East End Cemetery in Cadiz.
Visitation will precede the service at the funeral home from 11:00 AM until the funeral hour of 1:00 PM.
