A special event brought the community together this spring, as the Trooper Cameron Ponder Softball Tournament took the fields at Tie Breaker Park on Eagle Way on Saturday morning.

Event organizer Mark Nichols says the tournament is more than just a day of competition—it’s a way to honor Trooper Cameron Ponder while supporting a meaningful cause. Proceeds from the event will go toward the Cameron Ponder Scholarship, helping students in the community pursue their futures.

Kentucky State Police Trooper Joseph ‘Cameron’ Ponder was fatally shot on September 13, 2015, while conducting a routine traffic stop on Interstate 24 in Lyon County.
