The City of Hopkinsville has announced changes to its Net Profit License Fee structure that will take effect July 1, 2026, following approval of Ordinance No. 09-2026.

According to the city, the updates are designed to lower fees for many businesses while creating a simpler processing system for all filers.

Key changes include:

+ A reduction in the Net Profit License Fee rate from 1.5% to 1.3%
+ A reduction in the minimum license fee from $250 to $100 for businesses grossing more than $25,000 annually
+ And a new $25 processing fee for businesses grossing $25,000 or less, which had previously been exempt from renewal fees

City officials noted that penalty and interest charges may apply to returns filed after the deadline.

The revised fee structure will first apply to businesses with a March 31 fiscal year-end, with Net Profit License Fee returns due July 15.

Hopkinsville officials say updated forms, direct notifications, and public outreach efforts are being used to help businesses and tax professionals prepare for the transition.

Businesses and tax preparers with questions are encouraged to contact the City of Hopkinsville Revenue Office at 270-890-0231 between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on weekdays.
