United Way of the Pennyrile has announced that Amy and Derrick Watson will serve as Campaign Co-Chairs for the 2026–2027 fundraising campaign, centered around the theme “Making Headlines, Making a Difference.”

Amy recently retired after a longtime career as a trusted anchor and journalist with NewsChannel 5, where she became known across the region for sharing impactful community stories and covering major events throughout western Kentucky and Middle Tennessee.

Derrick also recently retired following a lengthy career with the Hopkinsville Water Environment Authority, where he served the community through public utilities and infrastructure operations. During his tenure with HWEA, Watson was recognized for his dedication to reliable service and his commitment to Hopkinsville and Christian County residents.

United Way officials say the Watsons’ dedication to service and community leadership make them a fitting choice to help lead this year’s campaign efforts across the Pennyrile region.

The annual campaign officially begins in July, with businesses and organizations encouraged to schedule campaign presentations now.

The 2026 Campaign Kick-Off Breakfast is set for Thursday, September 3, at the Senior Citizens Center in Hopkinsville. Additional details are expected to be announced later.
